New York City's Health Department needs your help.
They want to meet directly with people in NYC's five borough this fall and winter to talk about their neighborhood's top health priorities. By the year 2020, the Health Department wants to create action plans to build a more equitable, healthier NYC with their new initiative Take Care New York 2020.
And that's where you come in. The next meeting is at New Lots Library on Thursday, December 3, 2015 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. During the meetings, they hope residents will be part of the community action planning process where they talk to leaders in the Health Department to discuss health needs within their neighborhood.
Don't worry if you can't make the next meeting. Just choose another time and location that works for you from their list here.
Here's what you can do to prepare for the conversation:
- Learn about your neighborhood by reading your Community Health Profile.
- Take a look at the Take Care New York 2020 booklet to learn more about the Health Department's initiative.
- Pick a place and time to discuss with Health Department leaders about health improvements you would like to see in your neighborhood.
